105.16 euros

...that's really all the customs people wanted from us. We took the boxes back to the airport, were escorted to the customs office, had to fill out some forms and answer some questions, pay the above amount in taxes (which went into the customs officer's back pocket, by the way), had a Guardia Civil officer sign the papers, and that was that. Did anyone bother to even look inside the boxes? Of course not. It is cold here. Snowed in the village last night, and all of the mountains, not just Maroma (the highest peak), are covered in deep snow. It is currently 11 C (approx 52 F) in the office, to give you an idea. Big Jim and I gave A. and his girlfriend the superwarm "arctic" duvet and a hot water bottle, so we hope they haven't minded the cold too much. But at least the sun continues to shine this morning. If the roads are in decent shape, we may head over Granada way to take a drive through the national park around Padul. Or we may just stay in the village or spend the day on the coast. The kids are still asleep at 10:30, "victims" of the fresh mountain air, which affects just about all of our guests similarly. The hassle with customs aside, it has been a great few days. It is wonderful to see Big Jim so happy again. I will post some photos later today, some of the snowy mountains and some of Big Jim's from Pakistan. What a fascinating place that country is! hasta luego, mylifeinspain
